Intro
This project documents secure outdoor motorcycle storage for a BMW R1250RT, focusing on safely storing a large, fully-faired touring motorcycle at home. With no garage available, the customer required a secure outdoor storage solution capable of accommodating the R1250RT’s size, width, and touring equipment while providing strong theft deterrence and full weather protection.

The customer’s challenge
The BMW R1250RT is designed for long-distance comfort and touring, featuring a wide fairing, large mirrors, and substantial overall size. When stored outdoors, these characteristics make the bike vulnerable to weather exposure, corrosion, and theft, particularly when using covers or lightweight sheds.
The customer needed a storage solution that offered genuine physical security, dependable weather protection, and sufficient space to allow careful roll-in and roll-out access without risking damage to bodywork.
The solution
An ArmadilloBoxes motorcycle storage unit was installed to provide secure outdoor protection for the BMW R1250RT. The rigid steel construction and ground anchoring deliver strong theft resistance, while the fully enclosed design protects the motorcycle from rain, frost, and debris.
The wide door opening and internal layout allow the touring bike to be positioned comfortably, making the unit practical for both regular riding and longer-term storage.
